My name is Sofia Arianna Lopez, and I am a daughter, sister, nieta of immigrants, partner, Xicanx, educator, advocate, and accomplice in progress. My hometown is Oceanside, California, but like the generations before me, home is more than a geographical location, it is the traditions and practices passed down for generations. Who I am is an interwoven tapestry of the resistance and resilience of the generations before me. I am because my ancestors dreamt me to be.
